The king of Korea

The king of Korea escaped to the Russian embassy.

In 1896, King Gojong, the King of the Joseon Dynasty(Korea), stayed in the Russian embassy for about a year and manage the affairs of a nation.

First, we need to know what happened in 1895.

At that time, the government of the Joseon Dynasty was close to Russia.

Empress Myeongseong led it and Japan resented it.

Because at that time Japan was reforming Korea for the purpose of invasion.

Eventually, Empress Myeongseong was killed by Japanese soldiers in 1895.

They sprinkled oil on the body and burned it.

Gojong, the king of the Joseon Dynasty, felt the crisis and escaped to the Russian embassy.

After that, Joseon lost much of its sovereign power as an independent country, and the invasion of the great powers became serious.

Russia and Japan have balanced their forces in Korea, but in 1904 there was a Russo-Japanese War.
